Summer of Design

A 6 week online course for budding graphic designers

Summer of Design is a 6 week course introducing young people to all aspects of graphic design from typography, colour palettes to logo design and composition. Each week / module we will explore a different area with a mini masterclass and fun projects you can choose to complete through-out the summer.

The course is aimed at 10-17 year olds but last year adults also took part!

We will cover:

1) Ideas and Inspiration

2) Typography

3) Colour Palettes

4) Hieroglyphics to Emojis

5) Logo Design

6) Composition

Each module consists of a project video and masterclass between 15-37 minutes.

Meet the teacher

Hey, I'm Faye Brown and I've been working in design for over 20 years following a graphic design degree. I worked in motion graphics with clients such as BBC, ITV and Discovery Channel before starting my own business in 2010. I now focus on branding projects and designing logos.

I've been teaching on Skillshare for over 10 years with over 85,000 students taking my courses. Summer of Design is my first course aimed at teenagers. I truly believe we can all have careers we enjoy and Graphic Design has been a very rewarding career for me. In this course, I will share my knowledge, tips and experience... even if your child doesn't go onto a career in design the tips they will gain some invaluable knowledge which will go on to help with presenting projects, designing social media posts and what typefaces to use when!
